Did anyone get trick or treaters last night?

We got zero. I brought candy just in case. But the streets were quiet and it was like any other Saturday night. I felt so sorry for the kids but I’m glad everyone kept their kids home to be safe in my neighborhood. We usually get about 25-75 kids.

We left candy outside on a tray with instructions to take one bag per kid.

We usually get 20-30 on a normal halloween. It was sad for our little boy who was so excited about Halloween but we only went to one neighbor for trick or treat.

No trick or treaters.

I heard voices of young adults outside the house last night.

They sounded drunk.

I hope they were having a good time spreading the virus all over the place as they certainly were not socially distancing!

Sad reality!

Every year the number of kids has been declining because a lot of churches and the mall hold trunk or treat events. This is my first year with none. I did notice that many of the neighbor's houses didn't have their porch lights on.

Glad I just bought a couple of bags of snack sized candy.

We planned ahead and placed two TV trays side by side on our front walk, lit by an LED lantern. A sign said, "Please take just one. Happy Halloween." We put full-sized candy bars on the trays, using gloves and wearing masks.

Children did show up in pairs and threes, and took their single candy bar. We missed greeting them and complimenting them on their costumes, though.

We just put out a bucket, with a sign to take a couple of pieces. It lasted an hour and 15 minutes. While most did follow the sign, it was shocking how many did not. NO ONE was wearing masks...not even Halloween ones! WTF?! Several were in clusters. So, I figure, OK is due for another spike in COVID cases in 2 weeks.

my neighborhood was pretty busy. I went for a walk just before sunset, and saw a lot of kids out and about despite the weather (45 and very windy), and people were outside in their yards, sitting around firepits and distributing candy creatively, like sending it through tubes or leaving little bags on fences. There were even some block parties with the street blocked off to traffic with sawhorses and Halloween decorations. On one block a couple of guys were sitting on their porch roof, sending candy down to the kids in little pails over a rope tied to a fence. And the best one of all was my neighbor across the alley, who constructed a circular trough about 6' in diameter, a couple of inches deep and about 8" wide, filled with water. A pump moves the water in the trough, sending little boats filled with candy from one side, where the boats are filled, to the other, where the kids pick it up. It was actually one of the cooler Halloweens I've experienced.

She put together a socially distant, safe trick or treating route.

She had everyone buy treats two weeks ago, wipe everything down, and pack them in plastic bags.

We all set out from our assigned houses at 7p (after temperature checks and wearing masks!) with groups of three kids, then did the circuit to the seven participating houses in her neighborhood.

Each of the houses had some cool way to give out their bags (some used tongs, one had built a chute, and one even had spiders drop from their porch roof holding the baggies!). And they had all done a great job decorating their houses.

It was 70 degrees, there was a fog covered moon, and it was nice for my only child (6yo) to have a bit of fun. And all the kids behaved, even though they were clearly out of their minds with excitement!

His two-month-old brother doesn't call me anything yet.

Technically, I didn't get any trick-or-treaters, but nobody on my street had their lights on, including me. I hadn't bought any candy because I knew I'd just end up eating it, so I had to run out and get some treats for my grandsons. I got toys, and just a few candy treats for the four-year-old. In return I got some good hugs.

We adults wore masks, as always.

13 bags were gone. I’m hoping that means 13 kids. They were on the honor system. I put the table in front of the door. No door bell/ no knocking.

I was sad that I did not see the kids but did not want to risk getting the virus.

We put tables out near the sidewalk with individual candy spread out. Everyone wore masks and each family stayed with their kids and distanced. We have a lot of young families in the neighborhood so we were happy to be able to give the kids a Halloween. We don't usually splurge like this, but this year we bought regular-sized candy bars. I bet we had 60-70 trick-or-treaters.

They were just little ones early and no one after 8:30. Kids are going to school here.
I'd say we got 1/3 of the amount we usually have, 20 - 30 kids.
It's the 1st time we didn't give out chocolate.
We bought a big box of Mott's fruit flavored snacks. Little individual packages. Every kid said "I love these!".
Good for lunch boxes.

I felt bad for the parents, waiting at the street. I can't imagine raising kids today, and hopes for their future.

I didn't expect any kids, but, many had decorated their houses, as they usually do.

Oh, in case you were wondering about neighborhood (candidate) flag support, I'd say it was equal Biden vs Trump.
Most of the Biden flags in the past 2 weeks.
