This was apparently their 1st endorsement of a Republican Presidential candidate since 1972. Their conclusion is basically, yeah we know Trump is a jerk and imbecile but the economy was doing great before Covid and he kept all his promises (cough..build the wall..healthcare...cough cough). They can't support Biden cause he's gonna raise taxes and he's too old and won't make it through his first term but Trump is old too but hey he's got Pence to fall back on. Really guys?
I personally had never heard of this newspaper but some of my Republican friends were all excited about it this morning. Hopefully, voters in the Pittsburgh area don't listen to these idiots.

(1,725 posts)Spent a lot of time there as a kid (grandparents lived there). It's not a city - or wasn't at one time - that would encourage an endorsement of a psychopath. Just strange to me, maybe not to those who live there now, or close by.
It IS, however, just south of Butler county.

(1,671 posts)Rep. John Katko used the final public forum of his campaign to tell voters that President Donald Trump is a knucklehead and that he doesnt like the president, despite endorsing him for a second term.
Katko, R-Camillus, made his comments Thursday night in a virtual forum over Zoom sponsored by the Black Leadership Coalition of Syracuse.
The third-term Republican endorsed Trump, a fellow Republican, in January but has tried to make a distinction: He likes the presidents policies, but not his personality and rhetoric.
When asked at the forum why Black people should vote for Republicans in the election, Katko said hes asking Central New Yorkers to vote for him, not his party or president.
Of course, Trump is a knucklehead, Katko said. And of course, I mean, I dont like him as a person. I dont like his rhetoric. I dont like his lack of discipline. Im more concerned about your pocketbook. Im more concerned about your economic opportunity. And Im more concerned about where we are going as a country.
It's a bunch of BS and shows he's worried about his Democratic opponent, Dana Balter. It's too bad he was sorely lacking in good judgment that he jumped the gun and endorsed the Dumpster way back in January. Nice timing there, Katko! Idiot!

Look up "Rob Rogers" (cartoonist) - fired because he made too many tRump cartoons.
The ownership is now in a contract battle with staff.
Sad.......

(7,203 posts)That makes a whopping 6 papers that have come out for Trump. The others are Sheldon Adelsons (yeah - eff that guy) Las Vegas Review-Journal, Rupert Murdocks (eff him too) New York Post, the packed with Reich-wing Christians Colorado Springs Gazette, the Spokesman Review (whose endorsement began with Trump is a bully and a bigot), and the just-as-bad-as-the-New-York-Post, Boston Herald.
After four years the incumbent got all of six papers to back him. Heckofajob! someone might have said.
