With one day left to vote early, people in southwest Ohio are waiting as long as four hours to cast their ballots.
The Clermont County Board of Elections office has seen a significant spike in early voting, resulting in long lines and heavy foot traffic. Many voters waited three to four hours in line on Saturday and Sunday, said Elections Director Julia Carney.
The reasons, according to Carney: increased early voting numbers, low staffing levels and check-in limitations due to COVID-19 social distancing measures.
"It's been like this for the last four to five days," Carney said. " Roughly) 5,000 more people have already voted early this year than in the 2016 election."
Early voting ended at 5 p.m. on Sunday, but anyone in line by the 5 p.m. cutoff would be allowed to vote early, Carney said. On Saturday, early voting ended at 4 p.m. but the board of elections stayed open past 6 p.m. to allow everyone who was in line to vote.

(44,973 posts)Which is absolutely ridiculous. People in large counties usually have to wait in long lines if they decide to vote early in person.

(1,406 posts)But it doesn't mean Democrats in there aren't trying to vote early. Republicans are waiting for an election day.

(14 posts)I just voted there last Tuesday with my daughter and we waited and hour and a half in the afternoon. My husband went first thing that morning and waited two and a half hours. I am seeing a lot more Biden signs out this year including in my neighborhood. We're usually the only ones with dem signs up in our neighborhood. This year when we got our Biden signs we also gave our next door neighbors one. We've lived next door to them for 24 years and they've never put a sign up before this year. We actually have more Biden signs than Trump signs in our neighborhood this year. We were told during the last election by volunteers going door to door to GOTV that we were only one of four houses in our neighborhood with registered democrats. I'm hoping this is a good sign and that it might also help some of our local democrats win for a change. We have some republicans that run against no one in every election in this county.
