Easily should make the GOP sweat like mad. In 2012. Romney carried Texas by 16 points. 16! Trump carried it by almost half that in 2016 by 9. Now 2018. Cruz only won by 3.
Now do you see a trend here? Why the Texas GOP has made it their mission to suppress voters in Texas? The change is happening too fast that their efforts are becoming futile.
Texas will become democratic in my lifetime. Could be this year, could be 2022 or 2024. But one things for sure.
They smell blood in the water and its their own.

(1,585 posts)Its people seeing that their vote might actually matter. Same thing happened in Colorado. Once Democrats saw their vote could matter it turned blue rapidly. Its not just demographics.
We should see the same in Georgia and North Carolina. A bit in Mississippi. We saw it in Alabama but abandoned it. Arizona is energized.
Will it be enough this year? I think so.

(176,745 posts)Every two years, you in effect register as a member of a party by voting in that party's primary. After you vote in one party's primary, then you cannot vote in the other party's primary until the next two year cycle

(7,394 posts)that assuming they are falling within expected demographics, it will be very, very difficult to make up the ground on Tuesday, assuming the GOP shows up at all (and doesn't actually secretly pick Biden anyway)

Soon will be the change you see across the state. Maybe that expanded Medicaid the blue states have received might be a path to increasing blue voters.

(21,120 posts)It discourages voting in all but the swing states. Because of the close loss of Beto in 2018 (2.6%), Democrats think their vote might actually MATTER, so they are showing up at the polls. Add to that, older, more conservative voters die and are replaced by younger, more liberal ones.
