The Villages: 2 more local COVID-19 deaths as tri-county sees spike in new cases of virus

November 1, 2020

Larry D. Croom

Two more local residents have lost their battle with COVID-19 as the tri-county area reported an uptick in the number of new cases of the potentially deadly virus.

Both of the latest fatalities were residents of Marion County. The only one that was identified Sunday by the Florida Department of Health was a 56-year-old woman who tested positive July 23.

Sumter County is now reporting 2,960 cases – an increase of 15 from Saturday to Sunday – among 1,677 men, 1,258 women, 13 non-residents and 12 people listed as unknown. A total of 208 cases have been reported in long-term care centers and 771 in correctional facilities. There have been 86 deaths and 290 people treated in area hospitals.

I hope they're enjoying their greatness.

It will be short-lived.

As will they.

miserable illness. RIP. And only 56.

From one source I've read, growth of cases among the Villages' 77,600 residents (take note, Lagomorph: 2 more out of 77,600, and we don't know their politics) is currently "pacing" that of Sumpter County, and apparently similar to others it sprawls into.

The case growth rate is rather surprising, because they're mostly retired and older at-risk, with families far away. They're not exactly all crazy political cultists. Death rates have been low, as intelligent people would expect given their average ages, even though Floridians are sealed inside all summer, coming out in fall/winter. Just became too complacent? It'd be interesting to know about rates for service workers who work in TV, live elsewhere, and do have to expose themselves.

Are these all older people living there? I know nothing about this place. All I've seen are competing golf cart parades.

park denizens looking for food. The Villages are full of parks, greenways, squares, and ponds, so they're all over.

7. I meant the last news item about the "gentleman" exposing himself. I should've been clearer.

Apparently she has to die for him to finally be cut loose once and for all. He was masturbating in public.

Those people living there are quite depraved apparently. It was an entertaining read, but I sure wouldn't want to live there. All the residents must be at least 55 years old.
