Covid response. The ONE thing that would have GUARANTEED a trump re-election, by a landslide

If he'd seen how other countries (like South Korea, for example) were handling Covid mitigation and had stepped up only even a little bit and pushed harder for testing and PPE and mask-wearing for Americans, saying "We will beat this virus like no one else has before" and turned it into a battle against a virus, not a battle against political opponents and Americans, trump would be sailing toward a re-election with likely higher EVs than in 2016.

But, instead, he took it as an affront to himself. As an attack on him personally and he ignored it and downplayed it for OVER TWO MONTHS and then politicized the hell out of it and not only worsened its effect on the economy, but on Americans' lives!

Stupid mf narcissist

But, the silver lining is we will now have competent leadership finally!

yeah, what's odd is that getagrip_already Nov 2020 #1
He took a completely non-political issue, made it a political issue, and it beat him badly. cbdo2007 Nov 2020 #2

I think so too. If he'd have made even a little effort and relied on CDC etc for guidance captain queeg Nov 2020 #4
I hate to say it, but with a proper Covid response, Trump would probably squeak out a win NorthOf270 Nov 2020 #5

That response was already inbread in the gop playbook.

Remember when ebola occurred? Christie threw people into isolation illegally just out of political spite. Faux was raving that we have to close borders and test all travelers. Really. That's where they were just a few years before.

So trump just threw all of that out the window and went with don't worry, be happy.

He is dumb as a brick.

I also think economic collapse has always benefitted the very rich. His boss is happy, too. Has tRump spent one day doing any work on behalf of ordinary Americans? Has he done one action for us? Fascism is borne out of chaos and he knows that.

He could have painted himself as the leader who kept the country together during its crisis. But all he wants is instant gratification and his self centeredness screwed it up for him, which is the only thing he cares about. But he screwed it up for the entire US

But his entire strategy is to do the opposite of basic conventional wisdom because it appeals to his idiot cult followers.
