require them to debate vigorously, negotiate, and come to compromises everyone can live with that move us forward.

The Republicans, as they exist now, forgot that in their lust for power and wealth, and have been putting party before country and people for decades. Now, that is coming home to roost.

The Republican party as it stands now is inimical to democracy. It needs to be swept away and replaced with people who actually believe in the republic, want to do their best by way of the interests of the American people, and are willing to compromise to move forward. In other words, we need to fill our government AT ALL LEVELS with people who actually want to govern us instead of making ever more massive transfers of wealth to billionaires and corporations.

Time for the Republican party to join the rest of the dinosaurs - the Whigs, Know-Nothings, Copperheads and all the others.

Time for sanity.

one party would be centrist and consist of people such as Joe Manchin, Sinema, and others while the other party would be left wing, social Democrats consisting of people such as AOC, Warren, etc. Then we could actually have fair minded debates over issues that are important.

But these Republicans have gone so far right that they are embracing fascism.

Yes, as you say, this present situation, with the Never Trumper Republicans, the Lincoln Project people and others, may be their visionaries positioning themselves to be just as you say - a centrist party.

I'm pretty progressive - I was a Bernie supporter in the '16 primary, and supported Warren this time around. I love AOC, dislike the Chicago School trickle-down economics intensely and so on. I also really like Katie Porter. So many new progressives coming in to our party! Good ones. With good policy ideas.

But I readily concede that our nation also needs the centrists. Most progress happens in the middle two thirds of the Bell Curve, and outliers on either side can lead us in the wrong direction way too fast. Like Trump has.

Let us lance and drain the suppurating pustule that is the current Trump Republican party.

I told my niece this country has never in my lifetime (60 years) hit rock bottom and it's exactly where Donald Trump will take us and it will take Democrats, Republicans and Independent working together to pull us up out of the mess he creates!! I saw all of this coming! What really scares me is if Joe Biden wins is the time between November 3rd and January 20th. This is a person that's in charge of the nuclear football! I can't think of anything that Hitler did on a large scale that Donald Trump hasn't started on a smaller one!!! He has nothing to lose if he wins because he can't be elected for a third term! You think he wants to get rid of ROV VS WADE...He hates strong women so women's rights will be no more! In a Trump second term, a husband or boyfriend can beat up or possibly kill a woman and there will be nothing anyone can do about it! Right now with all the laws his supporters are breaking, the police aren't doing anything about it! So, as women, our very lives are at stake and not because of abortion! That's just some of what we can expect during a second term!! He is an absolute MONSTER and pure evil!!!

While they may wish Trump out, we need to remember that they are still Republicans and they still support Trump's traitorous enablers.

Let's be clear-eyed about this. Rick Wilson is a funny writer, and he and his friends make good anti-Trump ads, but that doesn't make him a good guy. Anybody who helmed attack ads equating patriot, and triple-amputee, Max Cleland with Osama bin Laden is not a decent human being.

The Lincoln Project is shot through with W. Bush-era Republicans - the same people who stole the 2000 election, failed to protect the country on 9/11, involved us in a needless war that killed hundreds of thousands, threw up deliberate legal roadblocks to gay rights, slashed taxes for the wealthy, redistributing massive sums of the nation’s wealth to the top 1%, implemented the PATRIOT Act, spied on Americans, instituted kidnapping and torture as national policy, established the Department of Homeland Security, including ICE, blocked stem cell research, made climate change denial national policy, botched the response to Hurricane Katrina, deregulated the financial system so severely that we entered The Great Recession, etc., etc., etc.

Once this election is done, the enemy of my enemy is still my enemy.

Sure, it's nice if they assist now, but yes, they still want low taxes and small government and a slew of other things that don't fit in with the Democratic platform. (And they can train that ammo against anyone going forward).

How can so many people NOT see that Trump is the cause of their suffering.

to the disgruntled who usually hide under rocks and in the shadows because what they want is so essentially Un-American. But these media outfits brought all of that out of the dark corners and allowed it to bask in the full light of day. ENCOURAGED IT to come out and bask in the full light of day. Made it okay. Made it valid and legitimate for all those in the "well, you couldn't say that on the radio if it weren't true" camp.

And you force-feed that deliberately-crafted seditious message of denial and alternate reality relentlessly day after day after day after day after day, and eventually it starts to take hold, and grow roots.

They were smart, and shrewd, and wide awake, and busy working. And we were busy napping and not taking it seriously, much less devising ANY kind of push-back.

Reminds me of the time Reagan actually said something interesting: describing an imaginary moment when we're being invaded by UFO's and how THAT would serve to unite the whole world around one mission, and one cause.

trump certainly qualifies as an existential threat. Because that's exactly what he is.

That said, long experience has shown me that any time Republicans say that they are going to do something good for human beings, and for for the country, they don't.

So, for me, the coalition includes everyone who actually votes against Trump, not those who just say they will because it is somehow in their own self interest, and then go ahead and vote for Trump.

Show me the money.

Sorry to be so cynical, but Republicans have done nothing but cause harm to me, and my country, directly and indirectly, over the course of my entire lifetime.
