when they are processed and counted varies by state, and there is a lot of variation in how it's done.

Are Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Mississippi. And this states will not impact final outcome of the election
Florida counts early, Ohio counts early as well as almost all other states. If either Florida or Ohio goes biden, it's over. And we will know hours after polls close.

Many states don't track voter party affiliation (TX, for example). Plus many states can't count votes until Nov. 3 (PA, for example can't start counting absentee ballots until 7 AM Nov. 3)
