I'd wager it's related.

This terror will only feed a Nationalist backlash against Muslim Immigrants across Europe. Which may be what the Terrorists want.

Current chancellor of Austria is Sebastian Kurz who in 2018 was described in the Financial Times as "...easily comparable with the Republican U.S. President Donald Trump and the right-wing Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini..."

So he must have some fairly radical wingnut supporters in Austria, home of Hitler.

A number of suspects armed with rifles launched the assault in six locations, police said. I don't know how Muslim refugees would get their hands on a bunch of rifles.
