(944 posts)He'd say something like, "What a loser. Did I mention I have the best genes? None of my kids would get sick like that...it's disgusting."

(2,007 posts)That's what genuinely surprises me. After 74 years on this earth, you'd think he would have learned to at least fake it.
But I guess his deplorables LIKE that he doesn't bother to fake it.

(3,321 posts)I think most people know that. I think most people will act on that.
I love Joe, and I love being represented by a good human being.
To Joe and Kamala - to the future.

(30,247 posts)I hope that his young son is doing well. I'm not surprised, Biden is compassionate and caring. I remember a similar anecdote about Hillary. When she was senator she ensured that a little girl got much needed surgery that the parents couldn't afford. She followed it up by writing to the girl on her birthday for several years. Another story is about a support group for people suffering from spinal cord injuries and their families. When Christopher Reeves died, the group was at a loss. They decided to hold a rally at the Upper Senate Park. They invited several Congress critters to attend. The only one who showed up was Hillary, who spoke to them and asked how she could help. She attended subsequent rallies. Well, in 2008 these folks volunteered for her campaign, even though some were Republicans.
That's the difference between our Democrats and Trump. Our people have compassion and humanity. Trump, as his sister told their niece, only cares about himself.

I've read other things like this about Joe, but I think this time I really let myself read it with hope instead of half-trepidation that we might lose to Trump, despite Joe being such a good guy. Now that things are looking so very hopeful for tomorrow, I read this and just couldn't believe how incredibly lucky we are as a country to have him. He is special.
I'll admit that during the primaries I was looking for someone with the charisma of Barack Obama to sort of ride in on his winged chariot to rescue us, and when we got Joe as the nominee I was like "welp, okay, guess this is our guy. We can make it work." But now I'm feeling as though his extraordinary compassion and decency is exactly what we need. Like, exactly. We don't need a rock star. We need a good, decent, kind human being.

(2,541 posts)...and it is the definition of empathy.
Not sure how to convey this in words adequately but next to voting for President Obama in 2008 this vote for Joe Biden just felt... right, for lack of a better word. I sincerely hope in 24 hrs he will be our next President of the United States.

But when I read stories like this about Joe Biden, I almost believe it and wonder if his past runs at the White House were unsuccessful because fate was saving him for a time when we really needed a decent man like Joe in the White House.
But fate or no fate. I'm glad we have him now.

(47,260 posts)Though he would have been an excellent president when he was younger, it appears that THIS is his time, something he probably never expected or anticipated. When he decided not to run in 2016, I figured he'd missed his last chance, but life had other plans for our Joe. We are so lucky to have him especially at this moment in history.

(47,260 posts)and there are more stories like this than we'll ever get to hear. This is how Joe handles his own grief, by reaching out to help others during their times of loss and pain.
