That we can even consider Texas in play... There are a ton of dems working hard in Texas and I don't want to minimize any of them but Beto is walking the walk with the best.

(2,756 posts)Cant decide if Id want him to run for Governor in 2 years, or maybe a great cabinet position now and then Senator in 2024.
Guess Im happy to leave the decision up to him. But I want to see him somewhere that will make use of his gifts to the fullest.

Even in losing efforts, they showed that it could be done.

(802 posts)Beto has worked really hard to turn Texas blue. He definitely needs appreciation for all he had done in a difficult state.

(8,075 posts)Beto has been working so hard! We as a country are so fortunate that he's been doing everything he's done in Texas. I was born and raised in TX (but have lived in California most of my adult life) and my two nephews and their wives live in Austin. They are are very, very active in the political process. One of my nephews is even working at a non-profit who's primary goal has been to flip as many seats as possible from Republican to Democrat.

(6,941 posts)The mixture of people in Houston is a true melting pot. In my lifetime, Ive seen Houston go from a town of 500,000 people to a metropolis of 2.3 million. You dont grow that fast by breeding cowboys. 😂
Texas has the same problem the entire U.S. hasconcentrations of people and wealth in cities, and vast empty spaces of few people in-between.
I think the state to watch is Louisiana. Not because Biden is gonna win there, but the race may be so close it puts the fear of Jesus in the less-educated, mostly-whites who have inherited wealth and power there. Democrats have little wealth, but enormous cultural influence in New Orleans because of its tourism, film, and music venues. Its time they had a little more political power, too.
