and Treasury Secretary respectively
To me that smells like a right wing distortion
Both Sanders and Warren realize the importance of their presence in the Senate, and the risk it imposes with their republican governors

(4,429 posts)has promised to replace Sanders with a Democrat-Affiliated Independent - if he were appointed to a position in the Biden administration.
"I want this to be fair," he [Gov. Scott] said, noting that he has filled past vacancies in the state legislature with appointees of the same party as outgoing members. "So in this case, again, Sen. Sanders has caucused with the Democrats. I would anticipate I would look at ... a more left-leaning type of independent that would obviously caucus with the Democrats."
There is no way Scott will do anything that would jeopardize the Democrats or do something 'underhanded'. It's just not how politics is done in the state

(13,036 posts)Both Elizabeth & Bernie need to stay in the senate where they are needed. Their states have GOP governors whom we know damn well they will appoint GOP candidates to those senate roles if these 2 were vacated. We would lose our Senate majority. Too dangerous.

(4,429 posts)I mean that nicely. It's not like that, here.

No Senators in the Cabinet from GOP-governor states. Period.

(4,461 posts)... the past it may have been a dependable notion. But no longer. Republican politicians simply cannot be trusted or taken at their word. As long as they remain affiliated with that party (as it exists today at least), they should be considered irredeemably corrupt and morally bankrupt. That is the badge they have voluntarily pinned on themselves.

(5,499 posts)They have more freedom to push legislation and make comments. In the cabinet, you are basically working for the president.

(7,537 posts)Dems are concerned and divided. Anytime you see Warren, Sanders, AOC, etc attached to a story you can pretty much drop it in the wastebin as GOP enablers' propaganda. Follow the money.

It's premature to start planning the Biden Administration.
Winning the election is all that count right now. After the dust settles, let's see where we (hopefully) are and what we face.
I'm feeling confident about a big Democratic victory, too. But let's not get out over our skis.

Biden may well need Warren in the senate even more than in his cabinet or heading up a special project, but she'll be very valuable wherever she is.
I don't believe Biden could give Sanders a cabinet position. Sanders has no history of accomplishment and no experience in running a large institution, he's astonishingly ignorant for a man in his position of how to use government to achieve progress, he tends to rely on magical thinking for how he'd accomplish his claimed goals if he were ever required to come through, and he differs ideologically from almost everyone, disrespects all who don't fall in line with him (virtually everyone), and can't play well with others. His vote in the senate is his big value.
Whenever people lump the two together as if they weren't extremely different, it's likely the RW's up to its usual smearing.
