My wife and I just drove 16 hours to go vote

Remember that when they try and tell you or side doesn't have enthusiasm.

Until recently, and for many years, I was a resident of Santa Rosa, CA. For the third year in a row it has been plagued by wildfires, so when the now annual evacuation warnings came, my wife and I hit the road and went up to Eugene, Oregon. We decided that we didn't want breathe in smoke for another few months. We've been there since.

However, technically, I'm still a resident of Santa Rosa and registered to vote there, so my mail ballot was sent to my old address. I didn't have time to change my residence for the election, so we left at 10:00 am yesterday, drove 8 hours to SR, filled out our ballots, dropped them off in the drop box at the county clerk's office, and drove 8 hours home, stopping at a rest area to catch a few z's in the car along the way. Got back to Eugene a few hours ago.

Don't ever let them tell you that there's an enthusiasm gap. If people on our side are willing to do that even in a "safe" state like CA just to stick to to the tangerine tyrant, we got plenty of enthusiasm. Going to go smoke some legal Oregon weed now and take a nap. Hopefully I'll wake up to good news.

Because of problems with USPS delivery back then, my husband and I also planned to drive @16-18 hours from FL to GA and back for the primary -- if we had to. But we got our mail-in ballots in plenty of time to priority mail them back. They certainly weren't going to win that easy.

Come farther north sometime. The quality has pretty much evened out now, thanks to technology and seed banks, but SW BC was the epicenter of indoor growing at one time. I'd be happy to hook you up.

Sixteen hours. With the three cats, the dog, two cat boxes and other pet-support stuff, plus a bag full of underwear, a change of clothes and toothbrushes & toothpaste for us two bipeds.

All our other stuff was following us up in a big van. We just needed enough to get by til then.
