Tonights votes are just in person votes, right They don't include mail-in/absentee votes, correct? So they aren't the actual vote count? They mean nothing. Am I right or am I missing something? Just wondering if I have this straight.

(6,544 posts)whatever you are seeing is everything. When they say 75% is in, that is mostly EV, but could be some same day. The totals are whatever they are, they are not showing "today's vote", they are showing votes as released

(63,221 posts)There are 50 of them. It would be nice to have a list if anyone could provide one. It's kind of tedious to look up each one individually. Please know that I am not blaming you for this at all. You had a good answer. I just wish that someone could maybe come through with a helpful list. Although I know there is probably no easy answer.

(34,059 posts)they are typically the first votes since most states allow processing (everything short of pressing the tabulate button) ahead of election day. So, since all that has to happen is to press "tabulate," they are nearly instantaneous upon the close of polls.
Some states (PA being the most notable) does not allow pre-processing of ballots - so it's results will likely lean Republican and be increased by the somewhat later processing of absentee/early voting ballots.

(5,268 posts)some states are allowed to begin counting their absentees several days ahead so they are actually tallied first with the early in-person votes and then the same day election day votes are added in. Other states such as Pennsylvania don't begin counting their absentees until election day so they may need extra time to add those all in to the in-person votes.
