(19,564 posts)We made them defend themselves here. It's a huge step in the right direction.

(15,220 posts)Assuming there is a next time. I have my doubts.
I didnt think MJ Hegar was a good choice to challenge Cornyn. She was an unknown and I felt it would have been safer to move someone like Joaquin Castro - who has name recognition - to run against the tongue-tied snake.
The majority of Texans are poorly educated. I can say that cause Im a life long one. They need a name that theyve heard before because they dont have the brains to figure out issues.

(19,564 posts)I definitely don't disagree with on any of your points. I wasn't born here, but I've lived here since I was a child. I get Texas in a way only a local can, too. It's my home and I'm invested here.

(7,606 posts)we might have won the Senate seat as well as Texas. Not to take a thing away from MJ Hegar. Unbelievably there are a lot of men in Texas who will not vote on a woman. Who the hell do they think brought them to this earth?
hamsterjill
(15,220 posts)Yep. Youre right as to some of the men in Texas.
Beto might have had a better shot. I dont know since he lost to Cruz.
Did I mention that I absolutely DESPISE Cornyn?

(2,117 posts)Those are resources which could have been used to shore up the states on our path to 270. They got arrogant and tried to run up the score.

(19,564 posts)I'm sorry for that. I didn't honestly expect to win, but I did try really hard to make it happen.
I'm just disappointed tonight. Ignore me.

(19,564 posts)It's insane down here and the denialist just won.
We're in for an extremely bad winter. I don't even honestly know what to say. Pray for us if you pray, or think of those of us sane people down here caught up in all this if you don't. At this point all is welcome.
We're literally a sacrifice for Trumpism. It's going to get very dark before the dawn.

(128,905 posts)We are getting a spike here in PA and our (D) Governor has been fighting tooth and nail with the GOP state legislature. We had a record highest daily number reported on election day - +2,875 for a total of 214,871 and Philly reported +614 to reach 45,582 as a total so far.

(19,564 posts)Basically, all we can do is take care of ourselves and our own right now. We're fighting the anti science brigade. Which is a formidable opponent. Which has now been joined by the COVID fatigue people. It's not pretty. I suspect they'll out number us, sadly.
I've lost a beloved person to this virus. I know it's real, dangerous and non partisan.
