I have seen many Trumphumpers on Twitter and FB post variations on the "why would we tell them the truth" line of reasoning.
It's an outdated method of prediction that harkens back to a time when people were basically honest and weren't out to "own the libs."

(26,044 posts)FL was a polling miss, but not by a lot (it was considered in "toss-up" range), GA and NC initially looked bad but may change when all the ballots are counted, and OH/IA/TX were longshots at best. Since then, they've been right on target in terms of states, although we'll have to wait until we get final counts on WI/MI/PA to tell -- if the first two go for Twitler, it will be a pretty serious miss.
