(54,001 posts)I long ago made peace with the fact that Peterson was the best we could get there. Cuellar, however, is in a district that was never elected a Rethug, and the further right wing he moves the closer he is to blowing it (he is an anti-LGBTQ bigot, a forced-birther, supports and campaigns and fundraises for Rethugs, is anti-immigrant, and is so pro fossil fuel and private prisons, etc etc)

(29,883 posts)Minnesota Rep. Collin Peterson (D-MN) denounced his colleague and fellow Minnesota Democrat, Rep. Ilhan Omar, as someone who doesnt belong in the Democratic Party in response to a question shouted at him by a person with a cellphone camera.
Video of the exchange showed Peterson walking up to the House office buildings in Washington, D.C. as an unidentified man shouted at him. Do you have any comment as to why you defended Ilhan Omar? the man asked, referring to Omar as an anti-Semite.
I dont defend her. She doesnt belong in our party, Peterson responded.

(9,647 posts)so given that rural areas seem to have found more Trump voters then we knew existed, this was a pretty bad loss for Peterson.
It looks like Craig is going to win. Would be great if we could win one back in MN-01, but I don't know with the way rural areas are turning out for Trump.
