(3,334 posts)We did what we could. Not sleeping would not get Biden/Harris elected. That is definitely better for your physical and mental well being.

(16,110 posts)I rarely have trouble sleeping, but last night and the night before were unsettling sleep patterns for me.
I was afraid to boot up my computer to log into DU this morning and I certainly didn't turn on TV at all.

(22,390 posts)Zombie stressful night of no sleep.
Was afraid to turn on the tv and hear bad news. Last night felt like 2016 all over I went to bed early.

(7,715 posts)I was annoyed last night as I wanted the election to be over, but that was naive of me. This is the most unique election in our lifetimes, and there is so much still to count all over the country. And most of that is blue.
I finally gave up watching CNN yesterday, as it was clear that it was going to be inconclusive. I wasn't upset, but just disappointed we couldn't wipe Trumpism off the face of this earth forever. But we are still going to win.
I actually feel reasonably good after 5 hours of sleep, and I still haven't had my coffee yet!

(44,228 posts)Saw WI flip at 4:45, which was pretty cool.
Nice thing about working from home during a pandemic - I can wake up at 8:30, shower, dress, coffee and i'm at my desk before 9.

(3,216 posts)not cause of the election, but because I had a lot of congestion - from cleaning and dusting, I think.
My significant other also left a stinky trash bag in the garage, she was supposed to take out, but she got a work call that interrupted her. I moved it last night before bed and it smelled of mold. So I probably got a dose of that.
Oh well.

(12,003 posts)But I couldn't fall asleep until 3, and then I woke up every hour or two, which is normal these days because I'm 7 months pregnant, but it's harder to fall back to sleep when you have to check election results each time. I don't feel well-rested at all and I need to have a productive work day, but it's so hard to focus.

(3,922 posts)Bobby Lewis has nothing on me, I was Tossin' & Turnin' all night.
One of the worst nights I can recall.
Even this AM, I had to take a 1/2 of a Zanax just to cope.
Too soon for the wrap-up, but I think we all must recognize that we can't t recognize America anymore. It's not what we thought and it's not a paradigm of all that is good and righteous as a governed country. The fact is, we all saw the worldwide rankings plummet over the last few decades in virtually every category: education, infrastructure, health care, equality - both racial and economic.
Those numbers have serious consequences and we must recognize that we're not what we thought we were. Frankly, I fear for the future in this country. History will show us that even well-governed countries can fall into a hellhole, be it autocratic socialism, fascism, or simply, like us, a kakistocracy. It's happened before and it has happened once again - to us.
Yes we all hope for the best, but hope is all we have now. Sanity has left the country.

(2,283 posts)Though both of our four-footed alarm clocks went off as usual as soon as birds started chirping before dawn, so in actual hours somewhat less. On second cup of coffee this morning working on getting my boiler pressure to operating level. And from what I'm seeing through my brain fog this morning, I'm feeling good that we've got this

(8,834 posts)I rolled into town about 1:24 this morning. I've been out of state since Oct. 29th because my daughter got married. It was a windy and chilly outdoor wedding.
After unpacking the vehicle, I turned on MSNBC and they stated that they were going to stop counting votes for the night, I headed to bed about 3:30 and I got up a little before 8am.

(22,257 posts)Up at 3:30 AM, at the polling site by 5 AM to set up (polls opened at 6 am, closed at 9 pm) and did not get back home until after 10:30 PM, having delivered our district's polling suitcase to a Board of Elections drop-off point at my area's City Hall.
I shut off DU for that time and did not come back on until just now.
I went straight to bed without watching any TV and slept for nearly 9 hours straight. And I still feel a little fried.
Today, my neck of the woods is having a Protect The Results rally in the afternoon, but I don't know if I'll go. I'm in my 60s, and it's a matter of the spirit being willing but the flesh being weak.
Hang on and keep faith, people. Game's not over by a long shot.
AND, if Trump spouts off again about the elections, just tell him:
"FUCK YOU - KEEP COUNTING"
