The only two Senate seats we flipped were the two we were widely expected to win.

I can’t believe we couldn’t pull off ONE upset anywhere. Jesus Christ, this is a letdown.

For years, all these assholes have done is enable the worst president ever and thumb their noses at democracy and what’s their punishment? Re-elected to another term by their moron voters. Ugh.

1. The GA runoffs are going to be a battle

And my heart is telling me Stacy Abrams is going to be able to do enough to get at least one of the candidates over the line.

I saw this on FB a few days ago:

It's OK to be anxious about this election. We're about to find out if Americans are too stupid to live.

Doesn't get more blunt than that.

3. Believe it or not... it was a red wave

Not the kind that sweeps them into power... but a wave nevertheless.

In a non-wave election, about half of the "tossup" races go each way and maybe a couple of suprise House races that were thought to be pretty safe will fall to the opposition.

In a "wave" election, almost all of the tossups fall in one direction, and a surprising number of "pretty-safe" races go with them.

The 80%+ likelihood that Biden pulled out the win is temporarily covering the fact that the rest of the race was a disaster.

4. I agree, and it indicates we have a deeper problem than Trump.

We don't have the right program and .message as a party. Of course we bere on DU can talk about our ideas all day, but it's not reacjing tbe voters or is not motivating them enough.

6. People always cheat in politics. That's not the issue.

The issue is that their supporters allow them to get away with it because it is worth to them. A corrupt politician who serves my interests is better than an honest one who doesn't. Or so many people think.

8. We had the highest voter turnout in history.

I'm not sure what you think could be done to reach more voters than that.

What needs to be done is level the playing field which is currently tipped far right in the form of gerrymandering, rightwing media ownership, etc., but which we are powerless to change without both chambers of Congress. Catch 22.

10. High turnout, but it wasn't for us. It was all about Trump.

Love him or hate him. That's what got people to the polls. Assuming he loses, now what? Biden now has to lead, but he can only do that if people want to go there. But where is there? Need at least a few conservatives to join if we don't have the Senate outright. And if it's just four more years of gridlock, our country is in even more trouble. We can't go nowhere forever, something will break.

We got the message out, Trump is awful. Too many people voted for him anyway. Now what? How is Biden going to run a post-Trump country where 46% or so of the people and their Senators still want whatever Trump was selling.

9. The main program and message was "vote against Trump and the Republicans"

A coalition based on being against the other party and its leader is a pretty fragile thing.

There was of course a party platform, but that was a hodge-podge of planks wanted by various factions.

He is going to need to be a visionary. Not his strong suit, but maybe he can do it?
