"I owe Hillary Clinton an apology, many of us do, for blaming her for losing to someone like Trump,

for saying he should have been easy to beat. Clearly half of America has accepted what he is selling.”

-Joe Scarborough, 11/4/20

and I often wonder why we pay any attention to the guy, in this particular instance, I can't argue with his assertion.

If nothing else, this election has vindicated Hillary Clinton in a lot of ways.

And that answer is very scary. Authoritarian populism. They’re going to find someone who can deliver the message for more effectively and less divisively than Trump. And we have seen with our own eyes - a huge swath of apolitical non-voters eat that shit up and turn out in record numbers. And these folks transcend traditional racial and economic backgrounds.

There is a realignment afoot and it ain’t good.

I was actually kind of shocked how far right Trump went in public towards the end of the campaign but that really seems to be the Repub's only option.
The one who could continue that and who would fit your description might be Cotton.

Sexism was less a reason than we thought, there are simply a lot more people who like and admire Trump than we want to believe.

It may actually be more about him than we thought.

Obamaesque even in a perverted way.

I think they see themselves in him. The hate, the racism, the sexism. They fantasize about being as rich as he is, etc. It’s not admiration but more like greed worship.

I live in Texas and I gotta tell you that nine out of ten Trump supporters are simply dumber than shit. Uneducated and unwilling to become educated about anything more than cars, video games and guns. The other one out of the ten is an uber rich person just sitting back and laughing at their good fortune.

in which they've been taught that loyalty to Trump is a tenet of their Christian faith. He got the same extraordinarily high percentage of white Evangelicals this time as he did in 2016. Chances are he got the majority of Christians overall again, too.

This was their usual way of effectively deflecting blame from how horrible Rs were, to make it about her.

She was a decent person, highly capable public servant and fine candidate.

Wed Nov 4, 2020, 04:29 PM
Nov 2020

...but I did think she had a couple of specific weaknesses, not her own doing, that made it tougher to complete:

1) Sexism

2) The decades the right wing had spent on smearing her

I had hoped that without those factors, Biden had a chance to do much better. Well, he's done a bit better, and still looks ready to just barely eke out a win, but not leaps and bounds better than Clinton.

And that's after these Trump supporters don't even have the "lets take a chance" and "shake things up" excuses... They've had four years to see how horrendous Trump is, and most of them still want the asshole. It's sick.
