I had to resign from a position because my supervisors were forcing me to take a case which I thought would result in rule 11 sanctions. Based on their recent actions, where they (unsuccessfully) tried to hang another former atty out to deal with it on her own, I fell on my sword. Fortunately, the federal judge granted my withdrawal.

For those who don’t know about rule 11, it sanctions lawyers who frivolous lawsuits. The penalty is monetary.
