This was Trump's plan all along

1) Sabotage the mail-in votes by dismantling the USPS
2) Having states force the mail-in ballots not to be counted until everything else was counted to give the illusion Trump was ahead
3) This gave time for Trump to demonstrate on Election Night he was winning massively
4) Declare victory on Election Night to give his supporters the belief that he was the victor
5) Litigate the hell out of any states he might lose
6) Try to reach the US Supreme Court and bank on his appointees giving him the Presidency
7) Incite his supporters to violence if all else fails

Do not, for a moment, think that there is no rhyme or reason to what he is doing.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the right does not have exclusive access to violent action. I know they do no realize this, but many on the left are fully capable of acting in defense of violence. Nuff said.

Thu Nov 5, 2020, 09:01 PM
Nov 2020

6:30 pm EST. He announced that if you count the "legal votes" he won easily. Only when you count the "illegal votes" does Biden win. Then he said that he was protecting the people's rights and choice and would not allow Biden to steal the election.

He rambled on about the lawsuits, claimed that he had already won a big one, and said that the media was conspiring to prevent the people from knowing the truth about his big win.

NPR cut into his speech around that time to do fact checking. They denounced his claims as false and went back to regular programming.

My take is this. 1) Trump knows he is losing and won't win his court court cases, even if they are not thrown out. He is trying to save face by claiming that he won but
a conspiracy gave the election to Biden. 2) He wants to undercut the legitimacy of the Biden administration before Biden is even sworn in. (That might even be an order given to him by Putin.)

One other outside possibility occurs to me, but how could he think it would succeed? He might be setting the stage for his thug militias to break out in violence to "save the election and democracy." With the election so close, he might be counting on a large part of the country to be supportive of attempts to stop Biden.

Saw them at the corner of First and Main with their maga camo gear and their Q-anon flags. They don't look nearly as confident as 2 weeks ago and no-one honked or waved to them while I sat at the light. Mr. Kitty was in the back seat on his way back from the vet and was also unimpressed. It was strange to see them there since that's the spot we have been using for the last 4 years to cry foul on the orange menace, his works and his minions.

I wonder how they'll react when no-one else joins in on the corner tomorrow morning, or whenever the ref finally counts to ten and calls the fight over.

he expected his voters to show up en mass during regular hours on election day giving him a lead. Then he would stop Biden votes from being counted. He was never ahead on election day and he couldn't stop counting only Biden votes.

I really believe that's why Georgia stopped counting Tuesday night and went home while Trump was ahead. Just like in baseball, if it rains after the fifth inning, whoever is ahead wins. I'm sure republicans in Georgia thought Trump would stop their count before morning.

those rules are state law.and were already in place. Different states have different rules.

Down here our ballot board starts screening about 15 days ahead of Election Day, and they are all ready to be scanned on Election Day. We were deluged with mail ins, and they are still counting; they don't really need to for outcome purposes but every vote will be counted.

Didn't these states go to court to try to get the state elections code changed to start counting aheada of time and they lost the case?

This was a AI set of decision options. Whose AI is a secret.
Trump wouldn't know to enlist AI, but knows those who would.

The AI delivers the options to Trump. He's used them all, sending instructions to cabinet heads, lawyers, operatives and PR people who organize court suits, street drama and messaging that attacks Democrats of the very things he and his people caught doing.

Notice that for every serious TV appearance he makes, he reads a script.

To your last point, we both agree. One need not be dumb to be stupid. On one level, he knew he couldn't rely on himself to even run a campaign, nevermind a pandemic response, and so my AI theory.

I find it a sign of stupidity, not dumbness, that a person with a $400,000,000 inheritance would choose the path of gamblers, mobsters and state level money launderers and present himself to the gullible as a leader, then believe his own hype.

Now that we've seen that the gullible are not dumb or ignorant, they fall into the unfixable stupid zone, imo.

May that 21% never again find a champion or participate in politics.
