Ballots get fed through machines once they are opened, just like same day ballots.
Is there anything inherently better about voting by mail? (Other than healthwise, that is.)

(6,059 posts)1) no lines
2) no issue with cutting the numbers of/moving polling locations
3) no having to take special time out of your day to vote, you can vote on your schedule
4) You can take all the time you want to research obscure races and issues up for vote
5) no voter intimidation by "observers"
6) if the state is all vote by mail, turnout is likely to increase, since ballots are mailed to every registered voter. WA is going to hit about 85% turnout this year.

(24,731 posts)Ballots shouldn't happen. Some of the tallying machines may be connected to the internet, so perhaps those results are hackable. I'm not a techie, so someone correct me if I'm wrong!
