Watching him has helped me to gain a greater understanding into our electoral system. I can use tools publicly available to all of us on the net to come up with my own ideas and numbers just like he does and sometimes I come up with the same things he does shortly beforehand. He also gives a greater understanding of all the nuances in each election such as the mail in vote. This is the appreciation thread, go to the numerous other threads that dont like him to voice that if you can.
Thanks,
Eko.

(25,428 posts)for some reason, I can't get enough of him this cycle. I'm sure the circumstances help, but he really is a storehouse of knowledge.
People criticize his repetitive nature, but also forget that not everyone is tuned in every minute. He's often catching new viewers up to date, especially at the top and bottom of the hour.

(3,304 posts)You always make watching elections informative, and entertaining. I am amazed at your energy, enthusiasm and knowledge of the factors at play, for each of the many demographic areas in play. Thank you for the great work you do.

(6,563 posts)My learning disability makes it very difficult for me to understand a lot of things that involve numbers. But Steve makes sense to me - I understand what he's explaining. Granted, I cannot remember the numbers he rattles off, but he helps me understand the intricasies of our elections and for that, I'm eternally grateful.
TBH it pains me when DU members bad-mouth him. Walk a mile in my shoes and you'd appreciate just how precious that man is. He obviously loves his job, he's damned good at it, and I hope to see him for many years to come.
Love ya, Steve!!

I have always like Steve Kornaki (sp?) and never understood those on this board who dis him.

(214 posts)Having the same first name as Steve Kornacki I am biased toward liking him. He used to bug me but this election cycle has changed me into full appreciation mode. For Christmas I should buy him a new tie as it appears he has been wearing the same one all week.
The name "Stephen" (and its common variant "Steven" ) is derived from Greek ??έ????? (Stéphanos), a first name from the Greek word ??έ????? (stéphanos), meaning "wreath, crown" and by extension "reward, honor, renown, fame", from the verb ??έ???? (stéphein), "to encircle, to wreathe".

(36 posts)Kornacki is unwatchable. He represents all that is wrong with the media's obsession with "horse race" political coverage and his
frantic style gets on the last nerve that I have.

(204,786 posts)And on little sleep! I'm pretty sure that even after I'd been to sleep and gotten up he was still there!
He says the same thing 4 times. And bends over backwards to play Devil's advocate. To counter my own argument. I am sure this is Network direction. But repeating himself 3 or 4 times is unnecessary.
Karma13612
(4,544 posts)So I imagine with things moving fast he might repeat himself a bit.
Hes also probably a bit tired.
I love the guy and find him enlightening and entertaining about a subject that could easily be boring as watching paint dry.
This is who he is and I think he makes a wonderful addition to the MSNBC election team lineup.

(53,410 posts)And I think the questions Rachel, Joy and Nicolle asked him made him even better because he had to slow down and explain things to them, which made me understand what he was saying and doing. Like you I understand much more, especially about the dynamics of what the tallying is all about. He did a great job explaining how it all works.
Im not usually a fan of his, but he blew me away today.
