Just curious about people's thoughts on that. Could Sanders or Warren or any of the others beaten Trump?

(5,873 posts)Joe was the answer, and we can thank ourselves for it for at least the next four years.

(69,558 posts)As much as I respect Sanders and Warren, they are too polarizing.
Thoroughly decent, upstanding, rock-solid Joe Biden is who we needed in 2020.

(71,121 posts)I think we have Sanders to thank for this. He put it out there. Yes Democrats had talked about it for years, but Sanders gave it a great deal of publicity. We have always won in the middle in regards to the presidency. But the progressive ideas are popular and will gain even more traction in the years to come. Look at the ACA, the idea that health care is a right came out of that legislation. And the GOP will not be able to kill it regardless of the courts because it is now a voting issue.

That was April 25, 2019.. some were saying how late it was to start.. I was just appreciative that he did.

It's so Surreal.. I've been so anxious the last few days not to mention the last 4 years that I can't wrap my head around this yet.
I got to get to sleep too!

(2,394 posts)With a lot of GREAT candidates, but it seems to me that Joe is uniquely suited for our current damaged situation. He's a calm, empathetic veteran who can take the edge off of people and some divisions.

(656 posts)each candidate had a great case but Biden especially during the general election campaign set the right tone. he was the only candidate who could turn out the black vote the way he did. He will be a great president too!!!!

(6,477 posts)That's pretty clear.
Trump desperately wanted to face either of them, hence the Ukraine scheme to knock Biden out of the primary.

(6,298 posts)how fortunate we are with Biden. There is precisely zero chance any other other candidate could win. We needed some gop voters to switch and they were only willing to vote for biden. Look at these razor thin margins. Remember, Biden has the most votes in the history of this country, BUT Trump has the second most votes, more than Obama in 2008.

(7,596 posts)I believe pretty much all of them could have beaten this fuck.
I really don’t see what sort of advantage Biden had that the others didn’t. He wasn’t the most charismatic or the most interesting. He’s a decent guy, but virtually all the others were good people too. And some of them had more substance to their campaigns than Biden ever did with his.
What drove the vote out was the hatred people have for the putrid asshole in the White House. It wasn’t really Biden himself.

(28,835 posts)I think he was more likely to win back MI/WI/PA than any of the others, especially PA. Not sure I see anyone else winning GA, either, with the possible exception of Stacy Abrams, who obviously wasn't a candidate.

(8,852 posts)Now, maybe it is a bit of the halo effect impacting my thinking right now, but I really do think Biden was the perfect candidate this year.

(7,980 posts)I believed Joe was a great choice and was proud as hell to have voted for him and my daughter cast her first vote ever in PENNSYLVANIA 3 days ago, for Joe. She is one of the many who have made this possible. She can now know that Democracy matters and her participation in it is important.

(71,121 posts)I believed even before Biden announced that he was the only one who could rebuild the blue wall and win in red/purple areas. I can't remember how many 270 to win maps, I presented to show this.

(2,438 posts)I was for Warren but I don’t have any allusions that she could have beaten Trump...especially seeing how it all shakes out. Biden was the perfect choice.

(309,384 posts)a reason. Because we Dems wanted the best candidate to beat the Traitor.
Joe Biden had a strong coalition.. I've read the Black Folks in Detroit came out and helped us win Michigan.. same in Atlanta Georgia! Mayor Bottoms must be so proud! She endorse Joe Early ON!
and look where we are.. today!

(847 posts)Biden definitely had a much better chance of winning. I still believe liberal policies are the most effective although not popular enough at this time to win. It's good Biden got the nomination as this was not the landslide victory I expected. Republicans are horrible people for supporting that racist toddler.
