"God Bless America" is an absolutely awful song. It makes me sick every time I hear it. The truly great Woody Guthrie hated it so much he wrote "This Land Is Your Land" as a response. Now there is a truly great song!

And calling Kate Smith "great" is sickening to me as well. She was a total racist and (in my opinion) a terrible singer.

The way she belted it always made me feel good. I'm betting America would feel the same way. I'll ask my choir director/ music teacher daughter what she thinks.
