If the count is close Trump and the Republicans will work to get "faithless electors", who vote against the state's selected candidate, into the mix.
If there are more faithless ballots than the winning margin electoral votes, the election could be flipped.
Faithless electors can face fines of around $1000 and in some states can be replaced but it still could create one hell of a fight even after the popular election is called.
In 2016 there were 10 faithless electors and you know Trump will be working to wangle as many in to the mix as he can so it could be a real threat if the margin is too small.

(57,073 posts)$1,000 is nothing for putin to pay off.
I think faithless electors should be tried for treason.
And the EC has GOT to go!

(57,073 posts)IMHO, they should be tried and given the death penalty as a deterrent. Can't spend vlad's cash if they aren't alive.

All of the above ruins lives, most on a very large scale societally.

(18,626 posts)There are already articles on conservative websites claiming the astounding amount of fraud in the election and demanding that Trump be installed as president no matter what the evidence shows.

(18,626 posts)But this election showed it's not going to happen anytime soon.
Nearly half of Americans delight in the destruction of the US government and seem to think it's fun to ruled by an immoral madman.
They discovered it feels great to shed all moral convictions and be free to act as selfish and cruel towards others as they want.
If you drink of untethered immorality, without consequences, you will be hooked for life.
