The last Peach State runoff for the Senate took place in 2008 -- the year Obama was elected.
Amid all the celebrations and hoopla generated because of that win, people sadly didn't return to the ballot box to shore up his back during the runoff.
Jim Martin was the democratic nominee, and Saxby Chambliss the republican.
People just didn't come out in force and Chambliss defeated Martin 57.4% to 42.6%.
During the general, the scores were 49.8% (Chambliss) to 46.8%.
I know "I" learned my lesson and I'm going to preach this history to everyone and anyone I encounter. Of course I voted in the runoff, but I feel I could have done more.
I'm also joining Stacey Abram's organization ( https://fairfight.com/) as a volunteer. I'll do anything required of me to help.
Mitch McConnell is already talking smack and it is IMPERATIVE he lose the majority.

(4,845 posts)The 2 races are clearly very important for Biden's first 2 years. Having the trifecta is very different than having an obstruction republican senate. Everything is on the line with these 2 races.
