The media needs Trump to be their "Big Bad"

A cornerstone of every great story is the "Big Bad". The monster that scares everybody. The monster that seems to defy all reason, defy all laws of physics. For the media that's Trump. He enables them to focus on him and nothing else. No policy discussions like the fact that the US just pulled out of the Paris Accords on Wednesday.

No. They need their Big Bad. They need to fill us massive hours with tell-all insider books about how bad Trump is. Sure, he insults them, but that's good for business. That's what a Big Bad does. They need to keep this alive.

Calling the race for Biden destroys their Big Bad like snapping the fingers and killing Thanos. The movie is over at that point, and everyone goes home. If the situation was reversed, they would have called it for Trump and ran stories about how BLM and AOC ruined Biden's chances or maybe picking a woman as VP was the wrong choice.

The media is not letting go of their Big Bad.
