it really pissed us Arizonans off, Sen. John McCain was well liked and respected here in AZ and we didn't take to kindly to the Mango Menace badmouthing him.

2. I've been voting since 1980

and John McCain was the only Republican I ever voted for. (1999 Senate race).

He loved this country and didn't deserve how that fucking low life treated him.

That was a heart felt speech. I had policy issues with Senator McCain but I never thought he’d sell out his nation. He’s a Republican that will be missed and Joe’s comments here are honest and heart felt

4. I thought McCain was a total dick. Even when I was a republican. Years ago.

And once I realized I was really a Social Democrat never liked his positions.

But I never questioned his patriotism. And not the fake kind like flying a flag on your house. Dude put it all on the line for the country. As his dad and grandad before him.

When he gave the entire republican world a big fuck you by giving the thumbs down on repealing the ACA I lost the ability to hate him.

He cemented his legacy as a maverick then.

He never had a deathbed confession about the Iraq war, but overall, he was one of the last decent GOPers.
