Joe Biden breaks record for most votes ever in a presidential electionBiden has broken the votes record set by Obama in 2008.

Joe Biden has defeated President Trump to become the next president of the United States. And hes gotten the most votes of anyone ever to run for the US presidency.
With more than 74 million votes so far, Biden broke the record previously set by President Barack Obama, who received about 69.5 million votes to win in 2008. The 74 million number puts Biden at more than 50 percent of the popular vote, with President Trump taking 48 percent. Trump has now also passed the 70 million mark.
The 2020 election is on pace for a record turnout, with at least 159.8 million Americans voting, according to NBC. Thats the highest turnout rate among eligible voters since 1900. This has bolstered both candidates.
Both parties will surely parse the meaning of Tuesdays results in the days and weeks ahead, but one thing is clear: Even in the midst of a pandemic, American voters came out in unprecedented numbers to make their voices heard.
Biden paid tribute to that fact in a speech to the American people on Wednesday. Yesterday once again proved that democracy is the heartbeat of this nation, he said. Here the people rule. Power cant be taken or asserted. It flows from the people, and it is their will that determines who will be the president of the United States and their will alone.

(38,187 posts)I know they were one of the first.
I figured out why MSM still isn't calling it. They found out they can't start in on their "the Democrats need to do some soul searching" narrative they tried to start in on, because things changed. They are pouting. That's all this is with the major news networks. They can't browbeat Democrats and they were so hoping to start in with that. They got stopped pretty quick and they they are still pouting about it. No one can convince me they are not pouting right now.

(9,114 posts)They know the polling was way off. The pandemic has caused the slow count of mail in ballots. And 2016 must still sting.
Also they must love the drama. More than the sanctity of their responsibility as the fourth estate.

(297,204 posts)cult that they'd need to do some "soul searching" if they had any?

(38,187 posts)I have never heard the media EVER tell any Republicans that. They do that to Democrats any time we either lose or don't win by a huge landslide. It's like they can't wait to browbeat us any chance they get. I can't believe Republicans call MSM, "the liberal media." They are STILL, right now, interviewing oodles of Trump MAGAts on their networks, after Trump has clearly lost. Don't they want to hear what our side thinks at all? Apparently, not.

(9,114 posts)Still hundreds of thousands uncounted in just Orange County, where it took two weeks to tabulate the votes to rid us of Rohrabacher. Did you know Darrel Issa is back?
