(18,612 posts)There's no precedent and the secret service said it won't even consider the situation unless it becomes real. Congress could enact a law that would eliminate the protection for a convicted felon

(639 posts)The Former Presidents Protection Act of 2012, ended the law that limited Secret Service protection for former Presidents and their families to 10 years if they served after 1997. This act brought it back to lifetime protection.
It takes time for law changes to become well known. A siple error.

(54,302 posts)Putin wouldnt ler him near a window, and would probably install him in a dacha with high walls and no takeout service to McDolalds. Dead men pay no debts, so until Trump Tower on 5th avenue and Mar-a-lago become Putin Tower and Mar-a-Baikal, his diet will consist of weak borscht and black bread.

(54,302 posts)I hear Sochi is pretty nice, so he might not even want Cuba. For that matter, Cuba probably doesnt like him either.

(26,044 posts)...at least if he gets indicted here.
He'd be stupid to go to Russia. Putin would happily hand him over in exchange for a lightning of sanctions.

Still, it's surprising that many people there love him. Surprising how many here too.
