Nancy Pelosi formally announces run for reelection as House speaker

Amidst all the election 'excitement' I don't think this got posted in LBN yesterday.

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/nancy-pelosi-formally-announces-run-reelection-house-speaker/story?id=74061209&cid=clicksource_4380645_9_heads_hero_live_headlines_hed

In a letter to Democratic colleagues, Nancy Pelosi announced her intent to run for another two years as speaker of the House.

"Our vision for the next two years must be built on the success of [the] Democratic House Majority in the 116th Congress, and to harness the extraordinary visions, values and vibrancy of our Caucus to secure the progress that the American people deserve," she wrote in the letter sent around Thursday.

"In that spirit," she continued, "I am writing to request your support to be re-elected as Speaker."

Although Democrats were able to retain control of the House following Tuesday's vote, they did not expand their majority like the Speaker had expected prior to the election. In fact, Republicans were able to win at least five seats in the House by Friday with several still on the line.

I'm not sure how everyone else feels, but I'm leaning toward it being time for a new Speaker.

Thoughts?

I think the proper House comparison is with 2016, not 2018. Was 246 R to 187 D. Bernardo de La Paz Nov 2020 #3

As far as I'm concerned, she can continue in that role as long as she chooses. I'm down with NDP!

Presidential years tend to get different sets of voters from midterms.

Assuming we get 218 (probably several more) seats, that is at least a 31 seat gain by Nancy Pelosi.

She did a lot of heavy lifting and steady guidance while in minority to achieve this.

She’s done an excellent job the last two years. Can’t wait to see Biden addressing Congress with two women sitting behind him.

The last time I was a skeptic but she has done a phenomenal job. You have won me over Speaker Pelosi. Joe will need your strong leadership esp if McConnell remains Senatemaj. I'm already donating to the Georgia 2 🤞🏽.

she has my support. I think she has done an excellent job as Speaker, and see no reason for change at this time.
