I have to ask because where I was 4 years ago is seared into my memory in the worst way. I was alone & in Michigan of all places, having been in CA for a decent amount of time.
I cant do a poll. Someone else could?
Its a pandemic so DUH......
In my livingroom watching TV.
I expect a lot of this answer. Lol
I am sooooo happy. Thank you DU.

(34,367 posts)In 2016, I, too, was alone in Michigan, sitting in stunned despair. It was made all the worse because DU was hacked and went down for about a week so I couldn't even commiserate with my community. It was awful. I did not turn on my television for almost a month. Maybe I can reduce my blood pressure meds now. I actually had to go on them in 2017 and I think that trump contributed to it.

(1,200 posts)DU was down. (I was a lurker then) but it threw me even further off. My moms house is in the middle of the woods. It was like a horror movie.
& I too developed some blood pressure issues. (Couldnt even figure it out bc history of low normal) They have normalized. But it was REAL....

(2,220 posts)Hubster was at the store, and the dog thought he heard the car and was having a Daddy-boy False Alarm. I went to the front door and opened it, turned around to look at the TV just as the announcement popped up on the street. So I was standing in the living room alone, crying and screaming, the dog was barking.. Hubster got home a few minutes later. He heard the announcement on the radio, and we cried and hugged and dropped all the groceries on the floor.

A guy in the building across the street started clapping and yelling, Weird and annoying, I thought.
Then two more people, in his building and mine, joined in. Soon eight or nine people in the neighborhood were in on this, feeding off each other, trying to keep it going.
I didn't even need to check the internet to know why.

I gave my students a writing assignment and checked MSNBC.com, then interrupted them to tell them we had a president-elect.
