(765 posts)Was blathering on about that on MSNBC and everyone else was just letting him. I had to turn it off. But Im sure we will be treated to endless takes on how WWC voters are still angry and explainers on why they like Trump. They will totally ignore the elephant in the room as they have been since even before 2016, but especially since then.

(11,726 posts)Liberals/Progressives govern by consent. People are considered to have equal dignity and the best ideas, supported by the evidence are what informs public policy. That is how we operate. It is our strength, but can be exploited by those who do not come to the table in good faith.
Conservatives govern by "right". Their ideology tells them that there is a natural order in which the "best", meaning Wealthy White Protestant Christian Men, are and should be in charge. Conservative ideology is a continuation of monarchical thinking, only substituting wealthy business people for the lineages of the past (Bourbons, Tudors, Hapsburgs, etc...). This is not hyperbole. They truly think that they rule by divine right, which is why their messaging is so infused with religious tones.
Whether the media is doing this because they buy into the narrative (even subconsciously) or because they are cynical pieces of shit; this ideology is what drives the different narratives.
