a very small base. Lots of people accept progressive plans and positions, but do not think of themselves as Progressive.

If Progressives become identified as the radical left, it's over for them. That's more like what Kasich was saying.

On edit-- note that he said the same thing about the far right.

with the comparatively very small, usually oppositional political faction that calls itself "Progressives."

I'm definitely not a Kasich admirer. But of course he's right if he said that the Progressives faction has done as well as it has because the RW media, MSM and most LW media avoided describing it as far, radical or extreme left between 2015 and 2020. That enabled it to sell itself to mainstream progressive voters in far greater numbers than would have otherwise been the case.

look, there's even someone on this thread trashing progessives.

It seems some people around here prefer Kasich to progressive Democrats.

Sure, there’s a few but the Democratic Party is the big tent, encompassing everyone from centrists to AOC-style progressives. Different tactics but ultimately similar goals.

It bugs me that there are some people here who are quick to embrace Kasich, but even quicker to criticize progressive Democrats.

... lies in the media that have grown worse over the years in my area. (Where baseless demonizations of liberals is constant.)

It's completely unbearable to a person with a decent education, more apt to see through the deceptions.

If I'm wrong about his silence, then I apologize, but it's the right-wing propaganda that keeps pushing this country into a shit hole.
