OK, what now????

We are a nation divided. Maybe because I am a woman, maybe because I am a Person of Color, I am tired of the hatred, I am tired of the divide. I want healing. I want a way forward - one nation, out of many, one.

I know that all of the DUers feel strongly that we must not let our guard down, we must not let them exploit us. Some of us feel deep hate in our hearts for Republicans.

I don't hate ALL Republicans. Pretty much all Republican politicians, but not all Republicans. I know that some of them are Republican because their parents were Republican. And there are lots of other reasons that I don't agree with, but don't out-and-out hate people for.

The despicable scum-bag will no longer live in the White House in 2-1/2 months. But that is not a "fix".

As the winners, can we be gracious, reach out to Republican relatives, colleagues, neighbors, and say "Let's Move Forward"?

I want to be like Michelle. When they go low, we go high. I know they see it as weakness. But as long as we press forward with our platform and do so uncompromisingly, I think we can also look at ways to work together.

I try explaining to my white family members, I am also white, that the AA experience in this country is like NIGHT AND DAY to theirs, to ours.

That today means AA and other POC can maybe, MAYBE walk down the street and be safe, where as before they were not.

I dont know what it will take for most white folks to completely understand it. Myself I learned it be listening, by having AA friends who insisted I listen.

The Republicans knew they were dividing us...and didn't care.

They knew the population wanted the ACA...and didn't care.

They knew the majority wanted Obama to have a SC Justice...and didn't care.

The majority wants women to be able to decide their own health care & abortion rights...and didn't care.

We can go on for hours, but you get the idea.

They might want to be forgiven...but I DON'T CARE.

I am friends and acquaintances with Republicans. They are seemingly normal people, and we just do not talk politics. No need to reach out to these people, because we already have a relationship.

However, I have no desire to reach out to rabid racists, to the crowd who has been screaming "libtard" and "snowflake" for the past four years, the liberal tears crowd, the misogynists, the Muslim haters, the xenophobes, the homophobes, etc.

I'm too old to be wasting my time reaching out to people like that.

My relatives think that Trump is Christlike in his perfection.

They are racist to their cores, they choose harm over help for people who don't look and, more importantly, go to the same church as they do.

They said it was OK to cage children, these "pro-life" people cheered the idea of brown women being sterilized because "those people shouldn't have more children".

They think that Covid is imaginary and they don't see why they should mask up for the sake of others.

In short, they are not the people I thought they were. They are not good people and I will NEVER forget who they showed me they are.

I truly don't know what to do about those people.

I used to just think they would die off. But there's a new generation of them.

The only thing I can think to do is have their churches infiltrated with people of color, and force them to worship side by side until it sinks in.
