Dr. Craig Spencer: I just left an ER shift, and it hit me.

I just left an ER shift, and it hit me.

Healthcare providers will be respected for tirelessly working to save lives, not accused of falsifying diagnoses or profiteering off a horrible pandemic.

We will have a partner working with us, not against us.

It already feels so good.

we get a little distance.

But this is a perfect example of the absolutely bat-shit crazy stuff that has become part of our daily lives and that we just had to deal with.

Competence is.bad because it raises into question the authority and knowledge of the leader, or his duly designated proxies. Fauci illustrated clearly how that worked. Anthony Fauci is well respected in his field. Yet when he said something that contradicted what Trump wanted to say. He was ostracized to the point that Trump would have fired him if he didn't think he would lose all credibility.

Thank you for your work.

COVID cases are starting to hit home. People I know who were deniers are starting to see the result of their denials. Today alone, the virus has hit one of my offices hard and as member of one of the bands I am with.

I mean the feeling the government is working against you, not with you. AIDS hit us just after Reagan did.

Of course, even he didn't have the guts to fuck up the CDC and FDA by appointing stooges for the purpose of wrecking them.

Important things that will change drastically!

We don't have to worry about SS being wiped off the map, either or our ACA!

For 35 years, six months and 14 days I served this country, thus, I have served under many leaders (great, good, bad and horrible), so I know the filling of relief when transition happens between a horrible leader and a good leader, in either order. It's nice to feel supported, but one should never forget the lessons learned while serving under a (good or bad) leader; we could be destined to repeat our past.

17. Star Trek episode Assignment: Earth

The climax of the episode involves Kirk and Spock having to decide whether to trust an alien (Gary Seven) to blow up a rogue missile that the alien sabotaged before it hits its target. Spock is working the missile controls, but he really doesn't know what he's doing. Seven pleads with Kirk to let him complete his mission, and Kirk protests that he doesn't know what that mission is - lock the missile on target or blow it up. Kirk turns to Spock for advice, and Spock observes that it is difficult to know just how to proceed. Thanks a heap, you logic-addled jerk.

Kirk tells Spock to step aside and let Seven have a go at it. Seven springs into action, and successfully detonates the missile just outside the safe zone. We're at that moment right before Spock* steps aside and Seven takes over. The country is going to see how government can function when it's run by competent people, instead of by bullying narcissists who only care about appearances.

*Not that I'm equating the Trump administration with Spock, except insofar as neither of them were competent to deal with the situation before them.
