Every time I see Pete Buttigieg

My admiration for him continues to grow.

I'm watching Fox News Sunday (Chris Wallace) because I'm generally able to tolerate him, and Mayor Pete is on, being the bright rising star we know him to be. I definitely want him to be President someday.

I mean, look at Biden, who, as Harris pointed out, had the AUDACITY to pick a woman of color for his ticket.

That's historic. Now, we have had TWO people of color in high national office, and a woman. In terms of the LGBTQ community, we are seeing more and more portrayals of gay couples on television - in shows, in commercials (have you seen the latest with the gay black man introducing his husband to his family, and the family accepting the husband and welcoming him to the family?), and just in the general dialog.

Transgender and gay people have made huge inroads in national, state and local office, and when it becomes obvious that they take their public service as seriously as anyone else, people will care less and less about the sexual orientation of the candidate. Look at Polis in Colorado. He's doing GREAT as governor, and certainly most of the people of Colorado are applauding his policies, which really are moving the state forward in a good way, rather than worrying about who he loves.

I think Buttigieg might have a chance at the presidency within the next two decades, and he's plenty young enough to get some really strong experience under his belt. I'm hoping for a Harris presidency, of course, after Biden's terms.

in national office.

Honestly, I am hoping he joins the Biden Administration. He's top notch.

Stacey Abrams, too.

And I hear Elizabeth Warren wants Treasury Secretary, and Biden couldn't pick anyone better for that!

I mean, I remember looking at the Democrats standing at the podiums in that first primary debate, (seems YEARS ago, doesn't it?), and thinking this group would make SUCH a strong cabinet.

After spending time as a cabinet member during Joe's administration.

Sure there might be others and my mind might change in 8 years, but I really like Pete and would like to see him move up. Pete is super smart and very calm in the face of adversity. A strong confident leader.

Either I was dreaming, or I seem to remember Biden saying something about 4 years, then stepping aside.

I would be glad for 4 years with Biden, 8 with Harris (Pete as VP), then 8 with Pete. That would sure be one hell of a glass ceiling to break!!! (Next up, an ATHEIST!!! )

Or 8 years with Biden, 8 with Harris, 8 with Pete. 8 with Biden would give more time for Pete to prove himself as the statesman he can be. 24 years of continuous democratic control, and the republicans would hopefully never make it back to mainstream.

Even though Pete has the "IT" factor, and I think he could be accepted as a possibility, he may be utilized best elsewhere. He is so smart, in tune, and has such communication skills, he could be anything.

But he will be the recipient of a LOT of (biblical) hate. It is really strange how so many are so offended by the thought of two penises in the same bed (yet oddly aroused by two vaginas... ). Sadly, the holy babble will have to be sidelined as a guiding "principle" before that can happen. THAT can't happen soon enough, as far as I am concerned.

The question is do we want to go back down the path of choosing between hate and acceptance. The American people have a LOT more growing to do before we want to face that choice, again.

But looking at all that red on the electoral map gives me pause. I hope to NEVER see those cockroaches again. We must make sure they stay under the rocks, forever.

Still, in my dreams I DO hope to see Pete as president. I will take President Biden's lead on this. America is about POSSIBILITIES.
