(52,560 posts)I can remember when Obama went far more than half-way with republicans and they pretty much spit on him. He tried so hard to be a bi-partisan, unifying president and they were having none of it, PERIOD.
Yes, it is important for the president to work with republicans, but if they aren't willing to compromise, what is he suppose to do?

(19,446 posts)not make Republicans like us. It will make them feel even more contempt than they do already. Why are WE always supposed to bow down to them? Why is it our side that is expected to give in on everything?
There needs to finally be a line, a place where we say "No".
