Any Maine Duers here?

Curious about the senate election. I went to the nbc website and it said Collins is ahead by 60,000 votes with 100,000 outstanding. What’s going on? Biden wins there but not Gideon seems suspicious. What are the largest counties?

Those of us who live on the coast and in Maine's southern liberal towns went for Sara Gideon by about 3 - 1.
Voters in the north and inland areas stayed with Collins.

There's some talk that the endorsement of Bill Green, a popular local TV personality and old Collins friend (and a Democrat, grrr!) might have swung some votes to Collins.

We're so sorry we couldn't kick her out the door.

there wasn't a poll out there that showed collins winning. now part of that, as has been apparent for a long time now, is pollsters don't know what they are doing. but it sure seems hard for me to believe there wasn't more to this.

look at the polling history here from many different sources......... the only poll collins lead was at the bottom which was from last year before she even had an opponent

... the large undecided count. I con't think pollsters don't know what they're doing so much as Trumpers have learned to lie. Not because they are shy but because they want to tear down any existing institutions, including the pollsters.

There is a forum for each state in the listing of forums on D.U..

That said, it is perfectly o.k. for you to post your question in this forum as well, just thought you might find the Maine forum interesting.

voted for Biden but not the Democrats down ticket.
People always seem to want a divided government so nothing gets done. Then they blame the president for not doing anything.

It's the old vs population areas; but up here, once a person is in, they are in for life because they feel connected to their politicians & just won't oust them. It's a different, old yankee, way of life. Still trying to adapt to it after 35 years🙄

8. Another close race lost because of "socialism" and "defund the police"

This in addition to Iowa, NC and SC.

We need to be careful about our messaging. "Socialism" sounds cool and rebellious to some people but it is a loser.
