Right Wing Radio is airing commercials for post election therapy in Houston.

I was driving around today checking out the beautiful day here and picking up some prescriptions, while listening to the local FM RW rock radio station. They played a commercial that talked about how to move on with your life after the election and to not get so depressed that you do something to harm yourself or OTHERS. It talked about moving on, accepting the results and holding your family close and getting on with your life as if nothing has changed. All will be good as long as you have faith and family.

The commercial seems to be the project of a local therapists group. There has been a lot of talk in Texas about riots if the election does not go well for the orange one and well, it seems that they are trying to mitigate that scenario by asking the right to calm down and let it go.

I thought it was a good thing to be doing, not sure if there will be any takers or if any of the poor boys really give a darn about letting it go. I just thought it was interesting that at least someone on the right acknowledges that this is a mental health issue and these nuts need help.

I hope it works.

these last 4 years. The constant turmoil and anxiety brought about by this administration, the overwhelming feelings of having no safe place. The constant barrage of violent rhetoric and lies, the daily reminder that the administration considered everyone who didn't vote for them as an enemy.
The separated families and the babies and children in cages.
Even in recent days Don Jr called for all out war even as we're coming up on a quarter of a million Americans dead from Covid.

It's going to take time but a first step is to acknowledge that it's been a nightmare...a night terror really. And then an invitation to heal. I'm happy to see it.

Both sides need healing. My wife and I are feeling like we have been through a war. The emotions move from happy to sad to angry and back again every time we hear Trumps name, it is really starting to wear us down.

But we are strong and have good faith and love for one another so we know we will be alright.

Any time people try and help others with despair and anger it is a good thing. I hope people take them up and seek help.

I think many of us may not even be aware of how profoundly we've been affected by the psychological violence of the last 4 years. My emotions, like yours, are all over the place and that's not my usual self at all.

Our country's been filled with anger and fear and suffering and we've all been touched by it in some way. And some have suffered horribly. It's going to take time but we will heal. Simple kindness in small ways, both to self and others will take us a long way.

The only thing I can say is that not all of them said fuck your feelings.

I refuse to believe that we could be part of a movement where we don't value all lives.

No one deserves to die for being brainwashed and led astray.

That is just my opinion and I respect your anger.

I'm just venting.

Some of them, I'm sure, I wouldn't mind their non-existence. I hope that a few can be rehabilitated.
More than counseling, they need deprogramming.

This has been a horrendous 4 years and it is terrible what was done to all of us.

The whole country needs Joe and Kamala right now and we all need a hug...

Much love...

It is truly a shame this country as a whole has ignored mental health for decades.

It is encouraging to hear that local therapists are reaching out to people who are disgruntled with the election, but I think it's safe to say that the hard core nuts are not going to pursue therapy because, like tRump, they think it is (literally!) The whole world that is wrong.

I hope some kids take advantage of this offer because the transgenerational dysfunction will play out and likely result in another generation of people with, at the least, histrionic, narcissistic, and antisocial personality traits. Oh joy!

I'm not inclined to be empathetic to people who openly advocated for genocide and taking my rights away (I am LGBT and Latina, daughter of an immigrant) and support police brutality and sadistic cruelty to the poor, but then, being empathetic to them is not my job and I'm not professionally trained in it.

It is absolutely a mental health issue in many cases. QAnon is a very dangerous secular cult, and therapists trained especially in helping break through cult brainwashing certainly could help some people - if they're just willing to seek help for it.
