Why are people around Trump enabling him?

He is obviously mentally ill. He is a sick man in need of an intervention and hospitalization.

We are witnessing a dangerous charade.

It is hard to comprehend that there is not one person, not a single person, who can save him from himself.

they perceive that the best way to survive is to “identify” with Trump. So they align themselves completely with Trump and stand by him, shoulder to shoulder. They feel safe when they act as his wings.

Trump Train is their only ticket to being remotely relevant or powerful.

Others, like Repuke Senators or Govs or Reps are afraid of losing a primary if Trump humpers get mad at their betrayal/lack of support.

You have an entire political class that, psychologically, yearns for a strong man. Couple that with someone who’s famous. A TV star. These sycophants are the people that will bow and scrape while us liberals scream fuck you....

They’ve been trying to get that homey, Andy Griffith vibe going since. They just don’t realize the world has moved on...or at least the majority of it.

George Lloyd Murphy (July 4, 1902 – May 3, 1992) was an American dancer, actor, and politician. Murphy was a song-and-dance leading man in many big-budget Hollywood musicals from 1930 to 1952. He was the president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1944 to 1946, and was awarded an honorary Oscar in 1951. Murphy served from 1965 to 1971 as U.S. Senator from California, the first notable U.S. actor to be elected to statewide office in California, predating Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger.[1] He is the only United States Senator represented by a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The kind of disease that kills 90% of patients but one for which there is an operation that saves 10%. He’s figuring, well, it’s worth a shot.

Trumps notion is informed by his success filing lawsuits against creditors. Many of them have settled for pennies on the dollar or given up entirely. He’s probably thinking that there is some kind of upside for him if he drags it out. He might think he can negotiate immunity from prosecution in the states or something along those lines. I’m sure he’s thinking, what have I got to lose?

There’s also a chance he’s playing a more Hitlarian long game. Remember, Hitler was convicted of treason before he became chancellor. And that helped him with his cultish followers

He's their cash cow. If they want to write a book, he can promote it to his cult. When he starts his media company, they can get in on the ground floor.

The legions of people willing to follow him are real. Terrifying, but real. If you can get access to that crowd, you can make a ton of money.

Does anyone really believe that trump would go into this without thinking things could collapse? Before he agreed to taking this gig he probably asked, what's in it for me. They offered him riches. When he said, that's not enough - sometimes things go bad. If it goes bad I get twice that. And they agreed. Trump doesn't give a rat's ass about anything else. There is no moral victory to be had.
