IMHO: The GOP allowed Bush and Cheney and Karl Rove to trash the GOP electorate

Now, they're too spoiled, resentful, distrustful and ignorant to elect a reasonable gop candidate.

I was going to write that I'd like to see a young, impressive, inspiring gop potus candidate emerge this week, congratulate the president elect, and announce his/her own decision to run in 2024.

But then I realized the gop electorate can't except anything or anyone that intelligent, worldly, or respectable. If there is such a candidate in the wings, waiting, it would be suicide to be reasonable now.

They've poisoned their own waters for the next 10-20 years, if not longer. And they did it themselves.

They fomented and bankrolled the astro-turf group, The Tea Party.

The Tea Party was manufactured Phil Gramm and Dick Army, et. al. in Texas, replete with Gadsden flags and costumes. It came out of nowhere, like this B.S. Qanon manufactured group.

Politics in this country has gone downhill ever since. When you can’t even pronounce the name of the opposing party correctly, and then you expect us to get along. You don’t deliberately mispronounce someone’s name unless you intend disrespect

The counter culture had all but expired and the rise of the evangelical right began. Stealth candidates. Loading local school boards, county commissions etc with evangelical nutters. The rise of influence of the far right evangelical leadership and organization...Focus on the Family, Christian Coalition, Family Research Council...and that is some of the more moderate ones.

The manipulation of the GOP electorate has been going on for decades.... I joined this group during the Bush v Gore recount... That time was my political awakening... I saw the internet "democratizing" political discourse on a a national scale... With FreeRupublic, DU, etc.

Republican elites were using the internet, talk radio, and Fox News to whip up their base voters about social issues like abortion, gay marriage, religion... And, I thought this can't possibly last... They are setting their own trap, heading down a dead end alley as each issue dissipates in civil society.

Now they pretty much only have racism left... And, that doesn't work anymore. BUT, that's what the GOP base wants. So, republicans are stuck with the most vile portion of the population. And, Trump ripped the scab off, turned it up to 11 for all to see. The party is over. There really is no way to put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Sorry for all the over-the-top metaphors, but I saw this coming a long time ago, like you lindysalsagal.

They're going to have plenty of young followers who will continue tearing this country apart because they are literally being brain washed.

This is where our constitution needs to be updated. Freedom of speech is a sacred and beautiful concept. We need to learn how to make freedom of TRUE speech sacred and beautiful.

Out of all 19, there are 13 trump supporters and 6 Biden supporters. Of the trump supporters, all of them have been programmed way to the right by their parents and/or the church.
