races in order to maintain Senate seats and their Senate power base.
Seems to me that it might be easier for the Dems to find evidence of that and use that evidence to stop Trump and the Repugs in their tracks in saying that the Dems rigged the election and Trump was robbed.
I would think if the Dems get close to proving that - that the Repugs and Trump would have to back off their efforts.
What do you think?

(22,911 posts)And the officials who control voting systems vary also with some areas being firmly under Democratic control and others under similar Republican control. In other words it is a complex patchwork that determines how votes are processed, so it is very unlikely that there could have been any intervention on a national level that would result in uniform sweeping distortion of vote totals. That of course doesn't rule out specific problems in specific areas.

Trump cultists
The first group doesn't vote for R at President or down ballot
The second group vote D at President and R down ballot
The third group doesn't vote for D at President or down ballot
Trump cultists who vote for Trump and R down ballot because that is his party
Trump's power was bring that fourth group out in spades. His entire election strategy was to energize that group, and he is very effective at doing it. The GOP just rode along on the coattails.
The second group is probably what kept Trump from being reelected. That and a massive turn out effort for the Democrats.

(13,909 posts)his cultists only account for about half his votes (~25%). The other half are conservatives who vote for him because of judges and fear of Democrats in power.

(15,147 posts)...that another DUer brought up, and it makes a lot of sense.
There probably arent bunch of voters who weirdly split their ballots between Biden and a bunch of down-ticket Republicans.
There are a bunch who, however, voted Biden for President and left the rest of their ballot blank. Thats definitely one you can get good performance for the Democratic presidential candidate at the same time Republicans do well down-ticket.

(2,328 posts)..but Republican voters still vote for Republican politicians down ballot.

(778 posts)All largely directed at negative advertising in down ballot races. Here in Iowa we were inundated w/ huge levels of negative advertising even in fairly meaningless state and county level races that were never in doubt anyway. No way these candidates campaigns could afford that level of media exposure. I wouldn't be surprised if a number of them were completely unaware it was going to happen until the commercials actually dropped. It was just to create the overall environment of Dems are evil, Repugs are saviours from the people that want to invade your home and rape your poodle. It was completely over the top the false BS negative claims being made 24/7 for the last 6 weeks. Thanks to Citizens United, all completely legal. As a society, we ultimately get the government we deserve.

(14,852 posts)... more votes than down-ballot Democrats, but Trump barely received less than down-ballot Republicans. Overall, the vote counts were less for the down-ballot candidates compared to the Presidential race.
I'm not sure what explains it, but it seems likely to me that some voters only voted in the Presidential contest.
No idea if that's a pattern found elsewhere.
