I think most military are honorable and at the same time, out of 1.3million people...even if Trumpism has infected only 10%, that's 130,000 willing participants. They can do a lot of damage. The definition of "legal orders" is going to get to be pretty challenging for some of these folks, IMHO.

National Guard guys at Kent State caught up in the hysterical anti-war protestor Vietnam insanity, young men who were armed and directed very poorly and who shot into crowds of students — killing students who were just going to class and not even protesting, are not the same as 2020 pro-Trump cultist ding-dongs who send out angry tweets b/c they have issues with vague ideas. Also, the murders at Kent State were a disaster for those trying to paint peaceful anti-war protestors as violent hippies. There’s a damn good reason why the first image is one of the most famous in our country’s history.

Large numbers of Trump cultists attempting to organize and go...somewhere? to risk their lives for a pathetic creep who has lost a historical election — I don’t see that happening. Fox couldn’t even find a group bigger than about twenty standing around somewhere looking totally deflated even as they held their guns to threaten whoever (they have no idea at this point — Trump lost in multiple states)

Everyone in the military from the four stars to the privates have been taught they cannot obey unlawful orders. Everyone in the military has sworn an oath to defend the Constitution.

I don't know about the Bureau of Prison goons but the military will not participate in a coup.
