WTF is wrong with him?
DeNiro was referring to the documentary UNFIT and while he wasn't quite summarizing it too accurately, he was really trying to get the point across that Trump is mentally unfit. And Ari interrupts to ask him about a previous movie? Good heavens.

(7,866 posts)He's approaching Andrea Mitchell/Chuck Todd levels of dislike from me. They should give his show to someone else and let him go back to being a court reporter type, where he actually does pretty well since he's forced to report on the news rather than randomly recite rap lines to fill time.

(115,692 posts)and he has to throw in a wisecrack or a rap reference. I don't know if he's trying to be hip and cool or whatever, but it's really irritating. He's off my list these days, in considerable part because of that.

(3,630 posts)but we don't watch him anymore. It's a pity, but he's become too damn annoying.

(4,673 posts)he was a fill-in before he got his show and watched a lot in the beginning. I still auto-record it in case I hear there was some thing interesting on, but 95% of the time auto-delete.

(13,776 posts)Melber always thinks he's come up with some stupid/hilarious-in-his-mind joke and he will always, inevitably, cringingly derail a serious discussion and interrupt a guest to cram it in and wait for their "yes, har har, that sure is funny" before letting them move on. At least Chris interrupted because he was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about politics, not just because he wanted to show off.
I CANNOT watch him. I feel bad saying this because I don't like to criticize people, and I'm sure he's a lovely person in real life, but he is absolutely unacceptable as an interviewer. Especially in really serious times when we just don't want to hear pop culture references or anything shallow and extraneous like that. All his stupid music references ALL THE TIME. WE GET IT ARI YOU ARE SUPER COOL AND YOUNG AND ONE OF THE COOL KIDS.

(13,776 posts)Crosstalk with him was already annoying and awkward enough when his interviewees were in the studio with him, but with the delays because of Zoom every single one of them is like a record scratch.
Seriously, the producers need to have a talk with him. He can go back to regular levels of annoying once the pandemic is over and he's just being rude to his guests' faces.
And I'll just say again, ARI: NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR YOUR STUPID AWKWARD FAUX-COOL MUSIC JOKES. Go have a private Zoom dinner party and make your guests fake-laugh, but we are SICK OF IT.

(10,667 posts)there's awkward silence . There's no excuse to embarrass a guest who's trying to explain a complex point

(28,257 posts)I have no interest in hearing some rap artist's political viewpoints---any more than the political viewpoints of a country-western singer. Ari's show went off the rails a long time ago; sorry to hear that DiNiro was the latest victim. MSNBC has some serious housecleaning to do....

(6,587 posts)I was SO happy when he got his own show, because he was excellent as a panel member during discussions. But then he started with his 'look how cool I am' crap and within 3 days, I just couldn't watch him anymore.
