it is rarely noted by doctors on news programs or the media in general or politicians for that matter, that COVID-19 can have significant short and long term impacts to the human body, even months after you have the disease.
Its always displayed as a big number for "infections" and "deaths" but that's it.
You start telling people that if they get infected, even if they survive the worst short-term issues of lung and heart inflammation that its the long-term impact that will really make them regret getting the disease: from mental illness to losing all your teeth, that there is an often permanent and lifelong challenge to getting this disease that could have been avoided by wearing a mask.
From tweet:
Omg. PLEASE... I beg of you, take this seriously. For you. For your kids. For everyone.

(8,695 posts)I cannot imagine how you must feel and its very moving that you have chosen to speak up about your experience.
I wish more did that and it was reported on more in the media.
It has become this reflexive thing to spit out the numbers and talk a little about hospitalizations but rarely talk about the hundreds of thousands of people that continue to suffer...weeks and months after becoming infected.
I think we would have a lot more people wearing masks if they understood that is is not the damn flu. You don't just get sick and get better and that's it. It can be far worse than that for many, many people.
Thank you again for sharing your story. I truly hope you completely recover soon

(63,221 posts)It's unbelievable how much damage it can do! This is nothing like the flu at all. I hope your heath continues to improve and that doctors and scientists find a way to fight this virus and treat its symptoms and side-effects. Take care.

I made one trip out to the store in late July, masked and keeping distanced. Numerous others around who were neither masked nor distanced.
I was sick as a dog in the first part of August, though my doctor told me I was lucky to have a mild case.
I started having some weird symptoms again in October. This thing is awful. When I see people in crowds, in the streets, masked or not, I think theyre nuts.
