Once January 20th, 2021 arrives the beast will be gone.
And then, my biggest apprehension is that the Democratic Party will devour itself.
We have a coalition of progressives, moderates and even some who are a bit right of center. This year, we learned that the prick named Trump couldn't destroy us. It is now up to us to not destroy ourselves.
I see this on the horizon and I'm begging Democrats of every stripe to "play nice." Joe, because of his age, will perhaps be a one-term president. And come 2024, the pure evil that calls itself the Republican Party could take back the White House (and even the House) if we are divided against ourselves.
About a century ago, the actor and part-time philosopher, Will Rogers, said: "I'm not a member of any organized party. I'm a Democrat."
I'm begging every Dem to walk away from an internal war. If not, we'll be right back where we are. Some Republican prick will be elected and, if he/she is just a bit smarter than Trump, we'll be living in an autocracy, and democracy may disappear onto the dust bin of history.
Let's not help our real enemies divide us. Please, please, please, let's not destroy ourselves.

(15,027 posts)Republicans tend to keep their internal squabbles/disagreements/wars out of sight.
We play ours out center stage, loudly, under a huge spotlight. Time we all learned to tone it down. My guess is Joe will get a month or two before our internal wars break out into the open. (I'm being optimistic here.)
It's time to put a lid on those wars before they begin. Otherwise, we are lemmings, marching in lockstep off a cliff. And we'll end up under the rule of scum who will make Trump look like a saint.

We are on the verge of a technological/political/social network world of malevolence that could shred and change human relations. The Republicans will exploit it to its fullest. And we could end up as road kill.
We need Democrats to unite more than ever. Or would you prefer the alternative?
Not sure I understand this line in your reply, though:
I sure wouldn't prefer the alternative. My post was meant to strongly urge Democrats to unite in the face of social-media disinformation and manipulation. I'm not sure now if I worded it clearly enough.
