"This is unsustainable"- senior WH official

?s=20

Frustration is building within the White House at President Trump’s refusal to concede defeat. A senior White House officials tells
@PeterAlexander
, “This is unsustainable,” referring to Trump’s unwillingness to accept the election’s result.

?s=20

This official says the president will keep amplifying his unsubstantiated claims of fraud and says they “do not expect him to concede.” More likely, this top aide says, “He’ll say something like, ‘We can’t trust the results, but I’m not contesting them.’” - via
@PeterAlexander

Reacting to the Biden senior counsel Bob Bauer’s comments that Trump’s longshot lawsuits are “theatrics,” this officials admitted, “It’s not wrong for the Biden team to call it theater.”

This official says many members of the White House staff are actively looking for new work.

I really don't buy into this crap. Sorry. But competence and lack of baggage have never been job qualifiers for former white house staffers before. Even reagan/bush/bush flameouts found new wingnut jobs after, in some cases, prison.

It's not as if a staffer in a republican wh was ever a candidate in a new dem admin or in a dem congressional office or in a dem lobbyist group.

They find jobs in the wingnut industrial complex, and they will again. Jobs are always scarce on the rollover of an administration. Thousands of appointed positions turn over simultaneously. Congressional posts shift. And there are ALWAYS way more butts than there are good paying seats. The remainder find their way into the commercial sector with wingnut friendly management.

But guess what? Jobs in general are very hard to find unless you have specific technical skills.

I don't buy that they are being frozen out of anything. The economy sucks; doubly so for a political appointee coming out of general government service or a political job assignment. The skills don't translate well in any economy. And most of these people had zero experience before getting gov't jobs. They were hired in way over their sill levels to begin with.

They will do fine. Wingnut Inc will eventually find a place for them. But they aren't being persecuted for working for trump; unfortunately.

cleaning, cooking, maintenance?

That is what would hurt. Trumps toilet would plug and barr would have to fix it.

But those people have all been purged and only the faithful now serve in the wh. Anyone who doesn't like potus was long ago weeded out.

They will happily show up hoping for a christmas bonus.

24. Theater? Or prelude?
Wed Nov 11, 2020, 12:49 PM
Nov 2020

At this point I think that the lawsuits are distractions. Call them theatrics. Whatever. But I think the spotlight should be turned on the four new appointees at the Department of Defense. We tend to dismiss this as more theatrics, but people far more knowledgeable and smarter than I have spoken of those actions as alarming. Now, you can look at these appointments and say, so what. One retired 4-star general compared these moves to a major league team needs a relief pitcher in the ninth and going to the local high school and picking some kid off the field. Again, sure, it makes us chuckle and ask what damage can be done in 70 days? We can ask how likely is it that hardened generals will obey the likely unlawful orders by this group of lickspittles? That may be. But what if next week's move is to replace the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Heck, maybe there are hardened generals who believe trump should be president for life. What then? Pretty funny? At that point, no. Mere distraction? Nope. That would be the whole enchilada. Or is the plan - to the extent that it is a plan rather than random shit emanating from a sick mind - to explicitly call out the right-wing militias?

There is some comfort that Biden is the president-elect. Although he has not power yet, he does have skin in the game and 50 years of experience. And I strongly believe that his presence on the scene will go a long way to counteract trump's antics.

I was down with the theater narrative when it was just lawsuits being filed. The firings and new appointments mean he now has control of the DOD and the DOJ, as well as proven loyalty from ICE and BP, and of course the illegal militia. The best case scenario I’ve heard is it’s a cover-up, he’s installing loyalists who will faithfully destroy evidence of crimes. Worst case scenario is The Handmaid’s Tale.

Anyone who thought Trump would be capable of conceding has not been paying attention to Trump the person. I'm wired to give people the benefit of the doubt, but this is a fundamental psychological issue, beyond even the partisan piece of this. Loss, being a loser, etc. does not exist in his world. Those things apply to everyone else. He will never, ever concede. His only hope now is to sow distrust in the election (which he and his enablers have done) and shrink away.

He's mentally unwell. And behaving as such.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried, but I also think our system has enough left in it to put its foot in his ass come Jan. 20.

Oh, don't be surprised if his stench returns to the frontline for 2024 if he makes it that long without a coronary or stroking out. He will have to prove he's a winner. I don't bet, but I'd bet on him trying again.

Name one thing he's come up with, in any form, that isn't.

As far as WH staff looking for new work - once again - of course they are. Anything else would be another form of denialism. I just think they're going to find that having "WH Staff" on a CV isn't going to carry the cachet it once did...but will again in another few years.

If they could find their spines, the 25th amendment could still be invoked.

Or you can keep going with your cowardly "anonymous Republicans dissenting" game.
